Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer with strong expertise in Node.js, NestJS, and API architecture. The ideal candidate will have experience designing modular, scalable, and secure RESTful services, particularly within high-performance environments. You will be responsible for architecting and maintaining robust APIs, managing real-time data, and ensuring high availability using NGINX as an API gateway.
This role is ideal for developers who thrive in backend-heavy environments and want to take part in building mission-critical systems for regulated industries such as gambling/iGaming.
Fluency in English is mandatory; Spanish is considered a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and develop advanced backend systems using Node.js (NestJS or Express.js)
- Design and optimize gaming-related APIs: player wallets, bonus systems, betting engines
- Build and manage integrations with payment gateways, game providers, and affiliate systems
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards (KYC, AML, audit logs, GDPR)
- Optimize and maintain PostgreSQL (Amazon RDS) databases, focusing on complex queries, indexing, and performance
- Leverage Redis for efficient caching and session storage
- Implement secure code practices: session handling, encryption, fraud prevention
- Contribute to robust testing with unit/integration tests (Jest or equivalent)
- Support deployment pipelines and collaborate with DevOps on Docker-based environments and CI/CD flows
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to backend architecture decisions and code standardization
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Node.js with NestJS or Express.js
- Demonstrated experience in building RESTful APIs for scalable applications
- Advanced knowledge of NGINX configuration (proxy, routing, caching)
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL, preferably via Amazon RDS
- Hands-on experience with Redis for caching and real-time operations
- Familiarity with Laravel or other PHP-based backends is a strong plus
- Clear understanding of microservice principles, modular architecture, and best development practices
- Proficiency with Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation
- Solid version control knowledge (Git) and familiarity with Agile workflows
Nice to have
- Experience in the iGaming/gambling industry
- Knowledge of message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka)
- Familiarity with GraphQL or hybrid API architectures
- Exposure to multi-region cloud deployments and horizontal scaling
